Happy FINALLY Friday everyone! It has been another sunny, windy, and hot day across the South Plains with highs back in the upper 90’s to the triple digits. With the dry line set up right along the Texas/New Mexico border yet again this afternoon, there is another chance for showers and thunderstorms to pop up. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern portions of the South Plains under the Marginal Risk category for strong to severe storms so make sure to stay weather aware. We will have the same set up on Saturday with sunshine, triple digits, and an isolated chance for strong to severe storms. Then beginning on Mother’s Day, the dry line will set up just to our west yet again and a cold front will stall to our north. This will allow for the development of more widespread thunderstorms Sunday through Tuesday with a minor cool down of temperatures into the upper 80’s and low 90’s through the second half of next week. Despite our storm chances over the next four days, we will still see abundant sunshine so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well.
