Happy FINALLY Friday everyone! It has been another sunny, windy, and hot day across the South Plains with highs moving back into the mid to upper 90’s. There is a small chance we will see some strong to severe storms pop up across the region this afternoon, but not at the magnitude that we saw on Tuesday or Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed us at less of a risk today, only sitting in the Marginal Risk Category. Tomorrow the setup will remain almost identical with highs pushing into the upper 90’s and the triple digits. However, late Saturday night into Sunday morning, our next front will transverse the region bringing us a 20+ degree drop in temperatures and another chance for strong to severe storms that will continue from late Saturday night through this upcoming Wednesday.  Despite our storm chances throughout the next five days, we will still see abundant sunshine so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well.
