Happy Tuesday everyone! It has been another beautiful, sunny, and warm start to the day with highs back in the low to mid-80’s. Just like last night, we will see another chance for some late evening and overnight storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Western South Plains under the Marginal Risk Category for strong to severe storms today and tomorrow. This means there is the potential for a few storms to become severe but most will stay below the severe criteria. Storm chances will continue through Thursday but will diminish in coverage day by day. As our precipitation chances begin to decrease, temperatures will begin their upward climb, pushing into the upper 90’s and triple digits just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Sunshine will be abundant Friday through the middle of next week so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well.
