Happy Wednesday everyone! It has been another beautiful, sunny, and warm start to the day with highs back in the low to mid-80’s. As we move into the evening hours will see another chance for some late evening and overnight storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Western South Plains under the Slight Risk Category for strong to severe storms this evening. This means there is the potential for a few storms to become severe so make sure to stay weather aware. Storm chances will continue through Thursday but will diminish in coverage tomorrow. As our precipitation chances begin to decrease, temperatures will begin their upward climb, pushing into the upper 90’s and triple digits just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Sunshine will be abundant Friday through the middle of next week so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well. The next chance for precipitation after tomorrow will come on Sunday night into Memorial Day as our next system pushes across the region so stay tuned for updates!
