Happy Thursday everyone! It has been another beautiful, sunny, and warm start to the day with highs back in the upper 80’s to the low 90’s. As we move into the evening hours, we will see another chance for some late evening and overnight storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the South Plains under the Marginal Risk Category for strong to severe storms this evening. This means there is the potential for a few storms to become severe so make sure to stay weather aware. Storm chances will end early Friday morning and we will be left with sunny and hot conditions for the first half of your holiday weekend. Temperatures will move into the upper 90’s and triple digits tomorrow through the second half of next week so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well. The next chance for precipitation after tomorrow will come on Sunday night into Memorial Day as our next system pushes across the region so stay tuned for updates!
