Happy Tuesday everyone! It has been a beautiful, sunny, and slightly cooler day across the South Plains with highs in the upper 60’s. With the dry cold front pushing across the region this afternoon winds have picked up and temperatures will continue to drop through Wednesday. Tomorrow morning’s lows will be back in the upper 20’s and highs will remain below average in the low 60’s. That means it is imperative that you turn your sprinklers off this evening and make sure that your pets and potted plants are brought inside. This cool down will be short-lived though as high pressure takes over yet again, allowing temperatures to heat back up into the 70’s on Thursday and the 80’s on Friday. The biggest issue we will see over the next few days is the combination of wind and dry conditions which could lead to some fire weather issues. Be cautious when barbecuing or when frying turkeys and make sure to dispose of cigarettes appropriately to prevent fires from starting.
