Happy Monday everyone! The backdoor cold front that pushed into the region last night has stalled out over the region and will remained parked there until Tuesday evening. Temperatures have dropped 5-10 degrees this afternoon, but the big surge of cold air won’t enter the South Plains until this front starts to move further South. Tuesday we are expecting temperatures to drop into the upper 50’s for your highs with the coldest day of the week being Wednesday. Low temperatures will flirt with the freezing mark on Wednesday which means there is a chance for wintry precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This will be most likely in the northern South Plains. Make sure to leave with extra time to spare on Wednesday morning in case roads are icy. Afternoon highs will only reach into the mid-40’s on Wednesday afternoon with warmer temperatures expected for the second half of the work week. Sunshine returns on Thursday with dry conditions expected through the beginning of next week.
