KLBK Wednesday AM Weather: December 21, 2016

Today: Today is the first day of the winter season, and it’s not really going to feel like it. Conditions will remain warm today with temperatures reaching the upper 60s. The difference today is that we will see much more clouds sticking around ahead of a cold front. That front will move through later this afternoon and wind speeds will pick up as that front pushes through.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy conditions will continue overnight with temperatures falling into the upper 20s. N/NE wind 10-15 mph.

Extended: Conditions will change quite a bit for the end of the week. Expect a cloudy day on Thursday with temperatures only warming to near 40 degrees. We also have a slight chance for showers during the day, and the possibility for some of that to turn into a wintry mix where temperatures are cold enough. The best chance for that wintry precipitation will be in the Northwestern South Plains. If there is any wintry mix, it will be very light. Heading into the holiday weekend, conditions should remain dry on Saturday, but there’s a chance for another round of showers on Christmas Day, mainly in areas off the Caprock. Other than that, it’s going to be a mild weekend.

Enjoy your Wednesday!
