Happy Friday everyone! After another beautiful and sunny day across the South Plains, we watch for a multitude of changes over the weekend. First on tap is a front that will approach the region late tonight into early tomorrow morning. This will bring a chance for storms overnight, especially for our northern counties, and a cool down for the weekend. As it continues to push across the South Plains on Saturday, the combination of ample moisture, lift, and instability in the region will allow for the development of more showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the eastern South Plains under the Slight Risk category for strong to severe storms Saturday afternoon and early evening. Then as we move into Sunday, more storms are expected but thankfully the severe threat will have moved farther east. Temperatures will be chilly on Sunday with highs only reaching into the low 60’s but we warm up quickly on Monday with highs in the 80’s and sunshine returning to the forecast.
