A Lubbock man was sentenced to more than 27 years in federal prison on Friday.

Kevin Ismael Lopez, 25, of Lubbock pleaded guilty in November to a felony charge of production of child pornography.  Lopez admitted he used at least two cellphones to “create images of minor females engaged in sexually explicit conduct.”

Court records said in one instance, in January of 2017, Lopez recorded a video of himself “engaging in … sexual intercourse with a prepubescent minor as she slept.”

Court records said he uploaded child pornography to the internet as a means of “online storage.”  The court records mentioned a popular online service but did not say specifically if the child pornography was made available to others.

The statutory maximum could have been 30 years in prison, according to court records.

As of Friday, Lopez still faced charges in state court for aggravated sexual assault of a child.  State court records indicated his victims were two underage girls. Both were under the age of 14, according to his indictment.
