Lubbock Police, Lubbock FIre Rescue and EMS were called for a crash involving a semi-truck and a car early Friday morning around 3:00 a.m. The location was Slide Road and Clovis Road.
At 11:00 a.m., police provided a brief update saying two people died in the crash.
Names were not yet released. The two vehicles were destroyed.
Officials asked drivers on Friday morning to avoid the area.
Lubbock Police issued the following update at about 9:45 Friday morning,
The Lubbock Police Department was notified around 3a.m. of a major crash at North Slide Road and Clovis Road. The crash occurred between a semi-truck and a passenger car. Life threatening injuries were reported.
At this time, the intersection remains shut down as Lubbock Police Department crash investigators map out the crash scene for an investigation. This closure may last several more hours as officers continue the investigation into what occurred and as personnel work to remove the vehicles and debris from the area.
