After months of investigation and work between a number of agencies, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of 18 people they said are believed to be involved in a drug ring.
DPS said it worked with help from the Lamb County Sheriff’s Office, the Littlefield Police Department, and the Lamb County and District Attorney’s office.
“This is only a drop in the bucket unfortunately and we will persist,” Scott A. Say, the Lamb County & District Attorney said. “Our message is, if you’re selling drugs in our county, we will find you and you will go to jail.”
Say was joined by Assistant County & District Attorney Rickie Redman, Sergeant Bryan Witt with DPS, Lamb County Sheriff Gary Maddox, and Littlefield Police Chief Albert Garcia for the announcement Friday.
“You hear comments about well, ‘I wish y’all would be working on this,’ or, you know, the drug problems and all that, and we can’t tell them that things are going on,” Maddox said. “When something like this happens, it at least lets them know we are working on it, and this isn’t the only thing we’re working on.”
One Littlefield resident, George Davis, said he is proud of the work done by law enforcement.
“I’m proud of Littlefield, it’s a good place to live, it’s a nice community, we got good people here, but we just don’t need bad things like drugs, and it’s, they ruin so many people’s lives and I just prayed and hoped that they can get the rest of the stuff off the streets and out of other people’s hands,” Davis said.
