A man who was struck by lightning during a Sunday storm died Friday morning according to an official with University Medical Center.

Slaton Police identified the victim as Gabriel Ramos, a Slaton resident.  Police said the case was investigated as an “act of nature.”

First-responders arrived at the scene just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, to a report of a person who was shocked.

The reported strike happened on North 13th Street near West Dickens Street.  Slaton Fire crews responded to the strike on Sunday, and accompanied Ramos to the hospital, along with UMC EMS.

Fire officials said the strike happened at a playa lake in a public city park area.
