UPDATE: Martinez was found and arrested at 73rd Street and Joliet Friday afternoon at about 4:30.
Lubbock Police set up a perimeter Friday morning after possibly spotting Carlos Martinez, 32.
Martinez was accused of hurting three officers by hitting them with an SUV Thursday afternoon in the 3200 block of 62nd Street. Police said an eviction situation turned violent. Officers fired shots at Martinez as he was driving to try to stop him from running over the officers.
The officers were released from hospital treatment several hours after the event.
The search for Martinez on Thursday included a perimeter in South Lubbock and statements from the police asking the public to keep an eye out for Martinez’ location.
On Friday morning Police said:
Right now we have patrol officers, K9 units, mounted patrol, SWAT and detectives in the area of 73rd Street and Indiana actively searching for Carlos Martinez. We have information that he entered several businesses in that area last night and this morning wanting to use a phone to make calls. He is considered armed and dangerous, and if you see this man please call 911.
He is still wearing dark baggy blue jeans and an oversized black t-shirt.
An eyewitness told EverythingLubbock.com that Martinez was possibly spotted in a car in the 7200 block of Joliet Avenue.
Several officers and a DPS helicopter were part of the intensified manhunt. Friday morning
Anyone with information on Martinez should not confront him but instead call 911 or Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
On Friday afternoon, police released video of the violent incident that led to Martinez becoming a wanted man.
