Last night, Monday, September 19, 2016 at approximately 7:07 p.m., the victim called 911 to report that an unknown suspect approached him as he pulled into his driveway in the 2000 block of Main Street.
The suspect had attempted to open the victim’s car door and a short verbal and physical struggle ensued. The victim managed to fight off the suspect and the suspect walked away. The victim called his wife and asked her to bring his handgun to him which she did. While outside the apartment, the suspect returned and attacked the victim a second time. During the struggle, the suspect produced a knife and began swinging it at the victim. The victim pulled his gun and shot the suspect in the abdomen. The victim dialed 911 a second time to report the shooting.
The suspect was transported to UMC where he remains in stable condition. The victim, Robert Michael Wilbur – 34, was not injured.
Detectives from the Investigation Services Bureau were called to the scene and are investigating.
